“Healthy Brain, Healthy Minds: Teens, Social Media and Mental Health” Public Symposium

Hope for Depression Research Foundation will inaugurate the first annual “Healthy Brain, Healthy Minds” public symposium on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Paley Center’s Goodson’s Theater. The focus of the symposium will consist of a panel on a topic that is deeply controversial and frequently in the headlines. Our own Medical Director, Dr. Marianne Chai is one of the expert panelists.
Elyse Fox, Founder of Sad Girls Club, an online community that provides a safe place for girls.
Dr. Marianne Chai: New York Center for Living Medical Director, board certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, as well as in addiction psychiatry and integrative and holistic medicine.
Scarlett Curtis: A UK-born writer, journalist, and blogger currently living and working in NYC. She is a contributing editor at Elle Magazine.
Philip Eil: A journalist and mental health advocate who writes about the differences between online communication and in-person communication.
Emily Odessor: Age 17, Editor in Chief of Teen Eye Magazine and outspoken mental health advocate.
Dr. Alexander Harris, MD, PhD: A psychiatrist and neuroscientist who heads the Neural Circuits Lab at Columbia University.
Devorah Heitner, PhD: Founder of Raising Digital Natives for parents and educators seeking advice on how to help children thrive in a digital world.
