Monday Night Parent Support Group
Parent Support Group “What Do I Do Now Group?”
Let’s face it. There is no urgent care center on every block to help provide families with the solutions that they need when faced with the incipient or excessive use of substances by their adolescent or young adult. This is often accompanied by compounding mental health worries that make it that much more difficult to know where to turn for guidance. Basically, parents are left to their own devises to figure out, “What do I do now? and “Who can I turn to for help?”
Finally, there is a safe place to turn to for professionally guided next steps. Each Monday evening at 6pm, NYCFL parents gather for a professionally led weekly support group to gain answers and share collective wisdom in dealing with the challenges presented by adolescent and young adult “children.” Regardless of the age or stage of the problem, trying to handle these vexing issues quietly and in isolation, often means being left to choose between a maze of residential, wilderness, psychiatric or counseling options. Facing simultaneous major decisions regarding education and vocational goals further complicates the decision-making process.
We offer immediate time-tested educational and solution-based support that is based on our decades of experience in what we find works. Learn mindfully based boundary setting, communication, and intervention skills, collaborating parenting strategies and adjusting expectations to match recovery timelines. Our goal is to improve family well-being and to promote healing for each and every family member.
