Evaluation and Assessment

This two-step process results in a comprehensive assessment to further understand and address individual and family needs. A recommendation of appropriate level of care and type of program will be presented at completion of the assessment, and our team will provide all necessary support around admission into our program.

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

Every young person will be evaluated by one of our psychiatrists, who will begin to clarify the substance use disorders and the underlying mood, anxiety, and other mental health challenges the young person faces. For all adolescents and for young adults who consent, the parents will participate in the initial psychiatric evaluation. Whenever possible, clients and/or their parents should provide prior psychiatric evaluations and neuropsychological test results to aid our psychiatrist in making the most accurate diagnoses and developing an effective treatment plan.

Comprehensive Clinical Assessment

Also known as Biopsychosocial Assessment, this structured interview seeks a deep understanding of an individual’s life and experiences, with an emphasis on the issues that have led them to substance use treatment. With participation from family members, we seek a holistic understanding of a person’s strengths and challenges with the goal of seeking the right cadence of treatment.
