At the New York Center for Living, we believe that a vital part of our mission is to serve as a resource for helping professionals in New York City and beyond. Central to this mission is our commitment to leveraging our space and expertise to foster collaboration among individuals and programs dedicated to supporting families navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and learning differences. We recognize that it truly takes a village to provide comprehensive care, and we deeply value our partnerships with professionals and organizations across the country.
On Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a networking breakfast designed to bring together colleagues from various disciplines for a morning of learning and connection. The event opened with remarks from our Chief Executive Officer, Pamela Alvich, who shared insights into the Center’s history and its longstanding mission as a beacon of hope for adolescents, young adults, young professionals, and families facing substance use issues.
Following her introduction, Clinical Director Ben Mushlin, LMSW, and Director of Business Development Geoffrey M. Golia, LCSW, led a brief but engaging presentation on the Center’s innovative approaches to adolescent treatment. They highlighted the integral role of creative arts therapies in the recovery process, illustrating how these modalities can foster healing and self-expression for young people working toward lasting change. They also emphasized the Center’s use of evidence-based practices and the novel ways those approaches are tailored for maximum effectiveness.
Over coffee and croissants, attendees from mental health programs, independent and public schools, and residential treatment facilities had the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. These conversations reinforced the power of professional relationships in expanding access to quality care for families in need.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. We hope that the connections made will continue to strengthen the network of support available to young people and families seeking recovery. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
