Finding Help
Why Family Involvement Matters
Addiction is often described as a family disease — not because family members caused it, but because everyone close to someone in active addiction ends up adapting to it. Parents learn to walk on eggshells. Partners take on more than their share of responsibility to keep things stable. Siblings sometimes fade into the background while attention goes to the family member who’s struggling. Over time, these adaptations — even the ones that come from love — can make it harder for everyone, including the person in addiction, to move toward real change.
Family therapy doesn’t assign blame. It gives everyone in the system a chance to understand what’s happened, name what they’ve been carrying, and learn a healthier way forward — one where the whole family can heal, not just the person in treatment.
Our Family Program Formats
Parent Only Groups A space for parents to process what they’re going through alongside other parents facing similar circumstances — without their teen or young adult in the room. These groups focus on practical parenting strategies specific to addiction: how to set a boundary and hold it, how to respond to a relapse without either enabling or cutting off, and how to take care of your own wellbeing while supporting a child through recovery.
Significant Other Groups For partners and spouses of someone in treatment, this group addresses the specific dynamics of romantic relationships affected by addiction — trust, codependency, communication patterns, and how to rebuild a relationship on a healthier foundation once both people are ready.
Individual Therapy for Family Members Sometimes a parent or partner needs their own individual space to process guilt, grief, anger, or burnout that isn’t appropriate to work through in a group setting. One-on-one sessions give family members room to focus on their own mental health, separate from (but coordinated with) their loved one’s treatment.
Family Therapy Sessions that bring the client and one or more family members together with a therapist to work directly on communication, boundaries, and rebuilding trust as a unit, with a clinician guiding the conversation so it stays constructive.
