Bay Ridge Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center
We are here for you
Located at 226 E 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, NY Center for Living provides specialized outpatient care for Bay Ridge residents. If you need Bay Ridge rehab, we provide specialized programs for adolescents, young adults, and professionals, including intensive outpatient programs and family-inclusive therapy. Starting as a non-profit organization, our focus continues to be long-term recovery for our clients, making us a superior alternative to local rehab clinics, especially for families and adults looking for individualized care.
Programs at the NY Center for Living
Clients looking for Bay Ridge rehab often wonder about the extra travel time it takes to get to our Midtown Manhattan location. However, at the NY Center for Living, our IOP (Young Adults & Adults) and Outpatient (Adolescents) programs make the travel well worth it.
Young Adult IOPs
Our intensive outpatient programs are offered to young adults and involve things like DBT, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing. During these sessions, individuals receive around 9 hours of care each week, including individual and group therapy as well as family support, partner support, or parent support where appropriate.
When clients finish their outpatient program with us, they can continue to sustain the sobriety goals and overall wellness they have achieved through our alumni program. We know how important it is to create a community of recovery, a culture of recovery where sobriety is at the center. For that reason, we aim to build a community that offers clients of all ages the opportunity to not only complete their outpatient programs but also come back to our center time and time again for things like our regular community dinners.
Teen Outpatient Programs
At the NY Center for Living, our non-profit organization provides separate levels of care for teenagers, with up to 6 hours of group therapy sessions each week, plus individual therapy, peer recovery support, and support groups for parents. With this level of individualized treatment, adolescents have access to things like Improv, to help build communication skills, dual diagnosis programs for co-occurring mental health disorders, wellness and recovery activities to boost physical health as well as mental health, and access to our alumni program.
Adults
Similarly, we know that working professionals have different struggles and triggers and therefore different needs as compared to our young adults and teens. That is why the emphasis shifts away from things like helping parents understand the recovery process, as is the case with our team programs, and focuses more on things like our virtual support program for those who are 25 and older. Just as our other levels of care offer things like substance abuse treatment with underlying mental health opportunities, so does our adult virtual program.
Why Choose Our Outpatient Therapy
Evidence-based therapy at the NY Center for Living can provide teens and adults with long-term improvements, such as symptom management and better emotional resilience. Families looking for Bay Ridge rehab will find that the evidence-based therapies we offer can help sustain long-term growth more than medication alone.
Symptom Management
At our outpatient treatment center in Midtown Manhattan, we can teach people to manage their symptoms more effectively, whether that’s part of recovery from addiction or mental health disorders like depression or anxiety. Studies indicate that people who participate in a full treatment program and complete it successfully experience meaningful reductions in their symptoms, making it easier to sustain a fulfilling life while managing triggers.
Emotional Resilience
We aim to teach our clients how to build emotional resilience. This level of resilience provides more freedom for a successful and rewarding life. Many people with low emotional resilience find that temporarily uncomfortable or distressing emotions can lead to maladaptive behaviors. With our individual treatment programs, we meet different age groups where they are and help build emotional resilience so that clients know the anxiety they feel or the stress they experience is temporary.
Skill Building
Another key benefit of our outpatient treatment center is building sustainable coping skills. Emotional resilience is one of many skills that are taught through our integrated therapeutic programs. More than that, our goal is to provide clients with mechanisms to manage future triggers instead of returning to things like drugs and alcohol. Doing so makes it possible to live a meaningful life, engage in social activities, and return to work successfully.
Getting to Our Clinic
The commute from Bay Ridge to our Midtown Manhattan location typically takes between 40 and 60 minutes. There are several ways to get here, but public transportation is the most reliable.
Subway
The best way to reach us in a timely fashion is via the subway. Coming from Bay Ridge, clients can take the R train from any local station in Bay Ridge (e.g., 95th St, 86th St, 77th St, or Bay Ridge Ave) north to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. From there, it’s a quick transfer to a Manhattan-bound 4 or 5 express train and an exit at 59 St-Lexington Av. Our facility is a 10-minute walk away.
Express Bus
Another way to reach us from Bay Ridge is via express bus, by taking the X27 or X37 express bus from various stops along Shore Road or 3rd Avenue. These buses will travel up Madison and through Lower Manhattan, so clients can exit at Madison Av/E 53 St and walk east toward 2nd Avenue.
Ferry
Finally, the ferry is another way to get here using public transportation. Clients can take the South Brooklyn Route from the Bay Ridge Ferry Landing to Wall St/Pier 11, then transfer to the M15-SBS bus traveling north on 1st Avenue and exit at E 50 St. That puts clients about two blocks from us.
An hour-long bike ride about 11 miles long is also an option, as is driving on the Gowanus Expressway and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel or taking a taxi.
