Talia Missan, LMSW, SIFI

Talia Missan, LMSW, SIFI, is a psychotherapist who works with young adults navigating the complexities of relationships, identity, substance use, and life transitions. Her work is grounded in curiosity, collaboration, and authenticity, helping clients make sense of their experiences, deepen emotional insight, and create meaningful change. Talia’s approach integrates evidence-based practices with a relational and reflective lens to foster self-awareness, resilience, and lasting growth.

Talia earned her Master of Social Work from Columbia University with a focus in mental health and trauma, and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Government from Bowdoin College. She has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. Talia also holds certifications from Columbia Psychiatry and the New York State Psychiatric Institute in Addiction and Substance Use and Eating Disorder Education.

Talia completed the Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the William Alanson White Institute, where she expanded her understanding of relational psychotherapy, family systems, and the ways early relationships shape emotional patterns and sense of self. She is SIFI-certified and has experience supervising social work interns and managing an intern program. Her prior experience includes working with young adults in outpatient and school-based mental health settings, as well as serving on the research team at UCSF’s Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Talia is a former collegiate soccer player who enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, reading, crossword puzzles, and exploring new restaurants around New York City.
